Did you know that you cannot only visit interesting exhibitions by great masters in Vienna’s museums but that they are also often a good place to eat? Who isn’t acquainted with the slight tiredness that comes with walking enthusiastically for hours through the museum’s rooms? A small lunch break, classic Viennese coffee with cake or even a very special dinner would be welcome.
In fact, many museums in Vienna offer snacks, coffee specialities and Viennese pastries in their own café or bistro. Since I already call myself an exhibition insider and regularly visit new exhibitions, I like to combine such a museum visit with a culinary delight at the end.
I discovered that some museums - such as the Albertina, Kunsthistorisches (Fine Arts) and the Natural History Museum - even offer culinary museum evenings with the character of a restaurant. That would be a cool idea during your stay in Vienna - a combination of art and culinary delights! After all, who can claim to have had a candlelight dinner for two under the imposing dome of the KHM?
So join us on a culinary journey through Vienna's museums and let's discover together what our cultural institutions have to offer!
Numerous museums offer a café for a rest before or after visiting their current art exhibitions, but also during a stroll through the city. These cafés and bistros can also be visited without an entrance ticket to the museum.
Whether for a small snack in between, for coffee and cake or lunch, these museums offer delicious refreshment for everyone.
