What does the world taste like? You can find this out every time anew when visiting one of the innumerable international restaurants in Vienna. I love the fact that every day I have the opportunity to discover exotic dishes for myself. Whether at the authentic Balkan snack bar or in the super hip Ramen bar - I really enjoy the great offer! Above all there is a huge selection of Asian delicacies here in Vienna – which you wouldn’t expect in a city in the very heart of Europe, am I right? But those who have once tasted a hot pot at Mama Liu and Sons (almost weekly, like I do!), or the city's craziest sushi at Mochi, will soon have a new view of Vienna as a culinary metropolis. But beware, we Viennese know about our hot spots for exotic cuisine. Therefore it is always advisable to reserve a table to make sure you get a seat. Otherwise it could be that somebody takes the last Gyoza from right under your nose. And that would be a real tragedy! ;)
The Pho trend has reached Vienna! You can currently get the wonderfully warming Asian noodle soup on every corner. But not only that! Also Bao Buns, Gyoza and co. are very popular in these restaurants! My insider tip: order and enjoy a hot pot together at Mama Liu and Sons!
“The Balkans begin in Vienna” is more or less a fact here (at least as far as food is concerned). For you can’t get such good pita bread in any other city, apart from perhaps in Sarajevo. And if you have always wanted to try Georgian cuisine, the Café Ansari is just right.
The finest French bistro in the city is called Beaulieu and has, as its name suggests, a beautiful location in the heart of the 1st district, although still quite hidden. And if you want to go further west in your choice of culinary delights, you should definitely head for the tapas in Toma tu Tiempo!
What would the Occident be without the Orient? And that's exactly why we love the oriental specialities in Vienna so much. Hardly anywhere else can you enjoy authentic Persian, Turkish and Moroccan cuisine so much as here! By the way, a visit to the Miznon restaurant in the heart of the first district is a real experience - definitely stop by!
