The run of all runs makes the Viennese asphalt glow in April. The city then vibrates in time with the 25.000 of runners. From hobby runners to professionals. Vienna is an action zone for one day, the atmosphere - especially around the ring - is brilliant!
In May sports fans all around the world will tie their running shoes and start jogging at exactly the same time. And they are doing it for all of those who cannot do just that. 100% of the starting money goes towards spinal cord research and therefore into a cure for paraplegia. There is no set goal. Everyone runs as long as they can until they are overtaken by the “catcher car”.
The starting signal for the ladies is also in May. The running location is the Prater in Vienna. Runners can choose between five or ten kilometres – the distance can be covered walking, running or sprinting, depending on how fit and motivated the runners are. A motivating boost in advance: people can practise together at the regular “women’s running trainings”.
Jogging after work – and as a team. In August the largest corporate run takes place in Austria. Each company group covers a distance of 4.1 kilometres. Together, of course. The start is from 06.00 pm. Afterwards there’s time for a drink with colleagues in the party zone!
Once around the Ring and that at night. In September the Vienna Night Run will take place with the city as its stage. Running the five kilometres around the inner city is less about power but more about the joy of movement. And the beautiful setting for the run, which is particularly delightful at night.
Lots of runners make the most of the early morning, especially in the summer months. Vienna’s lush green oases come into their own in the cool morning air.
The most important piece of equipment is the right running shoe. In order to find the perfect pair you should treat yourself to some excellent advice in a specialised shop.
