Viennese rooftop bars

The rooftop terrace with the small café "Zur Libelle" (dragonfly), which, by the way, is accessible to everyone free of charge, not only offers a new perspective over Vienna's city center, but is also used as an event location for art and culture. Even if the shape does not really resemble a dragonfly, "the light, shimmering and airy" of the architecture including the beautiful light circles are reminiscent of a dragonfly. 

The Ocean Sky Bar on the 11th floor of the newly renovated House of the Sea with over 10,000 animals impresses with a sensational 360° panoramic view over Vienna. A true sea of rooftops! While you can enjoy everything from breakfast to lunch to dinner or sundowner on the beautiful terrace, hammerhead sharks swim below you in the shark tank with seawater on the 10th floor. A very special feeling!

Probably the biggest insider tip even among Viennese, because only very few know that the canteen on the rooftop of the Palace of Justice is also freely accessible to guests. Not only the assembly hall with its immense staircase as well as the monumental marble statue Justitia is a feast for the eyes, but also the rooftop terrace with its impressive view of downtown Vienna.  

You can also enjoy a great view from the terrace of the modern Vienna Main Library on the Gürtel. Not only because of the unique location, but also thanks to the seasonal, regional cuisine a true insider tip! The Brandauer on the terrace of the Gerngross department store, on the other hand, is more beer focused. Not only does the food hit the spot, but the range of beverages is also very extensive. Whether strong beer, exquisite wines, rich farm spirits, fine single malts or non-alcoholic beverages. My personal tip, however, is the Brandauers house beer, wonderfully refreshing with this view!

You can catch one of the most beautiful views of Vienna's St. Stephen's Cathedral on the rooftop of the Steffl department store in the center of Vienna.
